Andrea Buchanan's novel 'Five-Part Invention' Follows Trauma's Legacy Through Generations of a Family

Five-Part Invention is the debut novel of Boston Conservatory alum Andrea Buchanan (B.F.A. '92, piano). The story takes the form of a musical invention—a composition written in two-part counterpoint. In a letter to her daughter, the elderly Lise shares a winding legacy of trauma that spans five generations of women.
